Salsa Verde Salsa Verde is a delicious and versatile Mexican condiment that can be used as a dip, a sauce, or a marinade. The tomatillos give it a tangy flavor, while the jalapeño peppers add a bit of heat. The garlic and cilantro round out the flavors, making it a perfect accompaniment to traditional Mexican foods such as tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas.
Preheat your broiler to high heat. Remove the husks from the tomatillos and rinse them under cold water to remove any sticky residue. Cut the tomatillos in half and place them on a baking sheet. Slice the jalapeño peppers in half and remove the seeds and membranes (wear gloves if you're sensitive to spicy foods!). Add the peppers to the baking sheet with the tomatillos. Peel the garlic cloves and add them to the baking sheet as well. Broil the tomatillos, peppers, and garlic for 5-7 minutes, or until they are charred and blistered. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the vegetables cool for a few minutes. Add the tomatillos, peppers, garlic, cilantro, and onion to a food processor or blender. Pulse until everything is chopped finely. Add salt and lime juice to taste. If the salsa is too thick, you can add a little bit of water to thin it out. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Enjoy!
