Simple Flour Tortillas With just a few simple ingredients, you can make deliciously soft and chewy tortillas in no time. These tortillas are perfect for wraps, tacos, burritos, or just as a side to your favorite Tex-Mex dish.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and use a fork or pastry cutter to mix it into the flour until it forms a coarse crumbly mixture. Add 3/4 cup of hot water to the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead the dough for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Divide the dough into 8 equal balls and allow them to rest for 10 minutes. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Roll out each ball into a thin tortilla approximately 6 inches in diameter. Place the tortilla on the skillet and cook for 30-60 seconds on each side, until lightly browned. Store tortillas in a plastic bag once they are cooled to room temperature.
